What is Rebooted?
What is Rebooted?
Over 94% of users will reject a website based on poor design (232 creative*). For designers, the demand is high but breaking in has never been harder. With over 50% of Americans now using AI for design, standing out requires more than just making things look pretty. You need to prove you can solve real business problems.
But here's the catch: To get hired, you need a portfolio. To build a portfolio, you need real projects. To get real projects, you need to be already hired. It's an impossible loop that millions of talented designers are stuck in.
Rebooted breaks the cycle. We help designers by giving them curated prompts from small businesses, to build skills through practice.
Someone posts a confusing menu, an outdated logo, or a clunky website. Designers in our community redesign it, practicing design theories and getting portfolio work. Instead of working on made-up mock projects that employers ignore, you're solving real problems with real constraints. This is your space to reimagine and inspire. From menus to logos to everything in between, it’s your chance to reboot design.

How it works

What used to be cluttered, confusing (or just desperately in need of help) turns into something that conveys a whole different message.

Can I upload designs I didn’t make?
You can upload public designs you didn’t create—like menus, websites, or signs—as long as you have permission or the design is publicly available. Please don’t upload private or confidential work without approval. The goal is to work on real-world examples that need a refresh.
. How does Rebooted protect my work?
Every redesign is linked to its creator’s profile to make sure you get credit. We also have tools and rules in place to prevent copying or misuse. If someone steals or misrepresents your work, we’ll take action to keep things fair.
What about redesigns of big companies like Google?
All redesigns on Rebooted are for practice and learning only—not for commercial use or brand impersonation. If a company wants to use a redesign, they need to contact the designer directly and get permission. Until then, it’s just creative exploration.
Can I use my Rebooted redesigns in my portfolio?
Absolutely. You’re encouraged to showcase your redesigns in your portfolio to highlight your skills and creative thinking. Just make it clear that they’re self-initiated or practice-based unless otherwise agreed. If a business or individual explicitly uses your redesign and you’ve granted them permission, you’re welcome to list that work as an official collaboration or project. Just be sure to document the agreement or communication for clarity.
Will companies actually use these redesigns?
Sometimes! — all redesigns on Rebooted are for practice and educational purposes only, unless a company explicitly reaches out to the designer and receives their permission. If a business/ other designer loves a redesign and wants to use it, they can contact the creator directly to collaborate. Until then, everything on Rebooted should be viewed as conceptual — not commercial — work.
What features are you building?
We’re in active development and testing a bunch of exciting ideas behind the scenes — from community challenges to better feedback tools to collaboration spaces. Some will launch sooner than others, and some may evolve as we grow and learn from early users (aka you!). The best way to stay in the loop? Join our waitlist — you’ll be the first to try what’s next.
